Greetings Pixel Art..
I've registered here a couple of times (AWM Mars, AWM standing for A World Maker), but things keep changing lol.. good for somethings, not for my memory.
Good to see VastPark forging ahead and making some very good progress.

Hi Craig :¬)
Guess I'm gonna be picking your brains about how I do this and that.. lol
I have tried searching this forum, but seems quite a bit of the older stuff (the bit I already learnt) has changed/evolved. I tried opening Creator, and it said the server was down, my registration from the forum would work in the Server, or Publisher LOL.. not a bad days start. I guess I'll have to register again for the server, creator, publisher to work?
At one time you created a bespoke programme to allow Direct X formats to be used for model importing. Has that changed/evolved? I cannot afford the ilks of Maya, 3DMax etc... primarily I use DeleD for model making, it does the trick, providing the exporters deliver the right format, that included the lightmapping and materials/textures etc for VastPark.

Ah yes, that will be due to the change in VastID. A decision was made to shift the accounts for VastID to use email address for login, see here

This is correct, the application that does this is the Publisher which publishes content for use in the Creator.
The current version of the framework is v1.3 and it supports import of the DirectX .x format. A public beta is coming soon of v1.5 that supports the import of Collada.
I see that DeleD supports both of these, however in my experience every .x exporter behaves slightly differently so your mileage may vary.

Hi Craig, thanks for the reply/information.

Where do I get one of these? I assume my previous email address may have been ported over, but we closed that company and dissolved it as it was a 'target company'. Would it be possible to utilise my current email address?
Yes you are right, Direct X exporters do vary quite a lot. Some will carry your textures/materials, some your animations, skeleton info.. others will do none of the above, or at best, some. So much for standards.

Apart from not being able to sign in to Publisher.... I do remember a topic on whether I could host my own content on my server, and call it into Creator. I think that may have something to do with Publisher settings? Which brings up the VastID.... I can't sign in... :(

Simplest option is to run the Player and try for a password reset or simply register for a new account.
Correct, the Publisher supports publishing using FTP that allows you to push the content to your own servers.
We're improving the content flow for this particular use case significantly in v1.5

Hi again Craig,
I did manage to get Player to log me in using my VastID, changed the avatar/icon etc.. loaded the lip synce, looks good... tried the HQ... loaded to 2500 elements, stopped for a break.. loaded to 2800+ with 3 elements to go, stopped for a break.. when fully loaded, it was all black. Reloaded, same...
Loaded up Publisher, entered same login details.. kept getting connection failure.
I also player for hours, using different programmes to export to X format, none of which would show in Creator except one, and that had no textures. I'm really looking forward to the Collada version. I guess you guys build in 3DMax and use the imml exporter? I have some great fully light mapped scenes ready to export into VP, once the workflow is there, checkout our gallery www.yourinside.com .

Hi Andrew,
I like your website. Nice looking scenes. I'm presuming Craig will be wondering about the specifications on your computer. It would be great if you could detail the operating system, video card and CPU. The other suggest I have is: if you've restarted your machine, try it one more time and let us know if that solved the issue.
Cheers
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the comments on our website gallery, it is a portion of the scenes I have ready to convert to run in VastPark.
As with the laws surrounding computers, a restart cleared the issue of the slow/non loading HQ.
To move forward as much as possible I've emailed the offices in Melbourne applying for a Demo Group access for Publisher, hopefully then I can get passed the login screen, play with the features, so I can upload my scenes to our server, ready for use.
The results from using the X format are varied and very much unpredictable. Blender seems to use DirectX8 version, whilst other programmes don't port textures/materials, animations etc. I guess you guys use 3DMax and export directly to IMML. Any news when the v1.5 will be out with the Collada Importer, and which version you will be using?
The specs for my system is dependant on which one of the three I'm using at the time across my small network. They range from dual to quad core AMD's, XP on 2, Vista on 1. 2GB ram on 2, 4GB on 1. All running nVidia cards, 7900GT-256mb, 8500GT-1gb, 8800GT-512mb. HD's range between 250gb-1.5tb IDE and Sata II. Connection is a rock solid and stable 8mb ASDL. I use IE7 on 2 and IE8 on the Vista machine.

Hmm, something wrong with the forums.. It says I posted the previous message 1 day ago, it was more like 4 days ago.
