vastServer test
Added by miscellany over 3 years ago
hi,
could somebody please test the following and let me know if they get a successful connection.. Everything works locally on my setup, but i can't test my public ip from within my network to see if my port forwarding has been done correctly. (there is nothing really to see if the connection is working, just a box, a strawberry and a light)

thanks,
andrew

I can access the park, so port 8278 is forwarded correctly, but cannot make a live data connection.
From the looks of the HostUri in the IMML im getting, its using your internal IP address rather than the external one.
There are a few ways to fix this, the easiest is to download the latest VastServer (went online today), select your park in the "Active Host Engines" list and in the settings tab, insert your current IP address then restart the server.
If you have a dynamic IP address, consider getting a free hostname from somewhere like no-ip or dyndns and then use that hostname in the hostname box rather than your ip

thanks craig,
could you (or anyone else who sees this and has the time) give it another go.. have updtaed my uri in the new server, and am using a dyndns hostname..
one thing, what should 'override hostURI' be set at, and what does this setting refer to.(at the moment it remains unchecked)
cheers
andrew

works perfectly!
re: OverrideHostUri, if a document already has a HostUri specified, when enabled, VastServer will update the HostUri of the document to point to itself. Unless you are manually editing the HostUri of your document (.park files) then you don't need to worry about this setting.
