Contributing to the project¶

So you want to lend a helping hand to the development of VastPark? You're in the right place. Please take note of the following guidelines to better help you understand the type of involvement you might take and the best way to begin getting involved!

Although only active contributors are given write access, everyone is able to gain read-only access to our SVN repository. See Working with the Source Code for information on getting the source code.

Feature Requests¶

We want VastPark to be the best it can be and whilst we like to think we are all-seeing and all-knowing, there is always room for outside ideas on ways to move the platform forward. All features that fit in with our long term goals for VastPark will be considered.

Submitting a Feature Request¶

To submit a feature request, follow these simple steps:

1. Come up with a great idea!
2. Look in the Forums for a similar feature request, if one exists, leave a comment adding your vote
3. If no similar feature exists, create a new message
4. Be sure to be as descriptive as possible and don't be afraid to include a picture or two

Bug Reports¶

We encourage developers help us make VastPark a stable and reliable system. To achieve this, we ask you to report bugs as you find them. Before submitting a bug report, please search for the bug in the search box. If it's already listed, add any additional information you feel may be relevant. If not already listed, read on.

Submitting a Bug Report¶

To submit a bug report, follow these simple steps:

1. If the bug is a visual anomaly, take a screenshot (JPG/PNG please!)
2. Think about what you were doing prior to the bug occurring
3. If no bug exists, "Create a New Message"http://vastpark.org/boards/1/topics/new
4. Include a small test case that details how to reproduce the bug
5. If you have IMML which reproduces the issue or some plugin code, please attach only the relevant bits of code

Submitting Patches¶

If you would like to submit a patch or have been invited to do so, attach the patch to the feature/bug that it solves.

Licensing your Code Contributions¶

All code contributors needs to either include the MIT license code in their submission or sign a VastPark Contributors License (attached to the bottom of this page). This contributors license agreement ensures that as a contributor, you own the copyright of your own work and can use it in other projects as you wish and the VastPark Platform and it's users are covered to use your improvement. Organizations may contact VastPark for more information about partnering on project development.
