Installing WorldServer and hosting virtual worlds¶
Step-By-Step Tutorial¶
Step 1. Double click on the Server installer to launch the installation wizard.
Step 2. On the welcome screen, click Next to continue.
Step 3. Read the End User License Agreement. To accept, click on the check box and click Next.
Step 4. Select a directory to install to, then click Next.
Step 5. Finally, click Install to begin the installation.
After the installation is completed, click Finish to close the install wizard.
Step 6. To Start Server, double click on the desktop icon or access it through the Start Menu.
Step 7. On first starting up, a configuration wizard will help to guide you through setting up the Server.
We recommend using C:\worldserver\root\ as your hosting root. It makes life easier on machines that are running multiple Windows accounts. Future releases of the WorldServer will default to this path.
Step 8. On the HostURI screen, Usually you will leave this screen as is and click Next.
Step 9. By default VastPark software will use port 80 for sending and receiving data. We will leave it as is for this tutorial.
Note: Skype and other application may prevent the server from running correctly on this port.
Step 10. Click Finish to complete the configuration. Then close the Server window.
Step 11. The virtual world you want to host will need to be in the hosting root directory. By default its User\Documents\VastPark\Server\
In this example, my-park is the virtual world folder. Within the my-Park directory, it contains a client and a server folder.
Step 12. Start up the Server software again. The my-park world will now be shown in the 'World status' list.
Step 13. Right click to copy the address and paste it into the VastPark Player.
Step 14. below is a screenshot showing the world being hosted successfully on by the Server software.
