Introduction to the VastPark Platform

We've created a number of video tutorials that will give you an introduction to the VastPark Platform. You can view the whole series using the link below or if you are after specific information about an application follow the links under the headings.

Publisher

Facilitates the importing of content into VastPark along with the creation of searchable metadata to make your content discoverable to the types of users you want it to be. Supports publishing to FTP and Amazon S3 accounts.

Creator

The Creator is a WYSIWYG 3D scene layout and IMML editor that is used to create virtual environments. It supports easy access to 3D content uploaded by the VastPark Publisher based on the logged in users rights to discover that content. As of build 114, it also supports local referencing of content.

Server

Contains the server-side functions required to host .imml files and manage multi-user connectivity amongst connected clients. Each VastPark Server is capable of hosting an unlimited number of fully self-contained Parks, with the only constraint being system hardware and internet bandwidth.

Player

The Player enables you to participate in any virtual environment built upon the VastPark framework.

Creating your first VastPark world

Follow these three easy steps and get your own virtual world up and running today.

  1. Publish your models (You can skip this step and use existing models made available by others)
  2. Create your world
  3. Deploying Virtual Worlds
    • Comprehensive information on deployment of IMML. Includes a guide for deployment on EC2
    • See the screencast on setting up and using the Server
    • Once your site is online, use the URL to access the site from your VastPark Player
    • You can now share this URL with others who can now access your world
    • How to protect your world
